ORCHIDS, THE STARS OF THE PLANT WORLD
30,000 species for the same floral structure: this is the orchid family.
They colonize all the regions of the world, with the exception of the Poles.
Although some of them are terrestrial, the majority of the species grow on trees,
although they are not parasites. They are called epiphytes
Of varied shapes and colours, which are sometimes quite eccentric,
orchids seem to have followed all the paths of diversity.
They can also be extremely variable in size. Some species measure scarcely
a few centimetres, while other can exceed two metres!
